Who We Are
The South West Union of Human Rights Associations (SWUHRA) is a leading human rights network established in 2016 with its headquarters in Bonduma, Buea, South West Region of Cameroon. SWUHRA was founded as a strategic platform to unite human rights defenders, civil society organizations, community leaders, peace advocates, and humanitarian actors committed to the protection, promotion, and defense of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Today, SWUHRA stands as one of the most dynamic and influential human rights networks in the South West Region, bringing together more than 30 registered member organizations working across diverse sectors of human rights, peacebuilding, justice, humanitarian action, governance, and community development.
With focal points established in all the Divisions of the South West Region, SWUHRA maintains a strong grassroots presence that enables rapid response, effective monitoring, community engagement, and impactful advocacy. The network is affiliated with the Cameroon Human Rights Commission, further strengthening its legitimacy and institutional collaboration in advancing human rights and democratic values.
SWUHRA serves as a collective voice for vulnerable communities, victims of abuse, marginalized populations, internally displaced persons, women, children, youth, and all citizens whose rights and freedoms are threatened.
